Zamordowani byli członkami inteligencji polskiej, włącznie z oficerami AK, przywódcami organizacji i księżmi. Wszystkie ofiary miały podcięte gardła od ucha do ucha. Groby odkryto w 1980 r., ale rząd komunistyczny PRL zdławił wiadomość o tym „Drugim Katyniu”.

W 1945 r. polski oficer napisał raport o powyższej masakrze, ale został aresztowany przez bezpiekę i ślad po nim zaginął. Naoczny świadek, który zeznał, że więźniowie byli trzymani w sowieckich obozach koncentracyjnych w brutalnych i nieludzkich warunkach zanim zostali zamordowani.

The massacre in Trzebuska, the rabbi cuts the throats of 300 prisoners over the death pits.

A new, unknown massacre of Poles perpetrated by the Soviets has been discovered. The organization "Solidarity Wiejska" informed that the Soviet secret police murdered 600 Poles in the forest in Trzebuska near Rzeszów in the period from August 24 to November 1944. The murdered were again representatives of the Polish intelligentsia, including officers of the Home Army, leaders of the organization and priests. All victims had their throats slashed from ear to ear. Their graves were discovered in 1980, but the communist government of the People's Republic of Poland hid the news of this "second Katyn". In 1945, a Polish officer wrote a report on the aforementioned massacre, but he was arrested by the security services and was not found.

The Polish weekly in London reported that the massacres were ordered by the commander of the 1st Army, Marshal Ivan Konev. London Weekly had an eyewitness who testified that prisoners were held in Soviet concentration camps under brutal and inhumane conditions before being murdered.

This case is especially painful because the murders were committed by those who (then) declared themselves "liberators of Poland".

Od 15 sierpnia do połowy listopada 1944 r. w miejscowości Trzebuska koło Rzeszowa NKWD zorganizowało obóz koncentracyjny dla pojmanych polskich żołnierzy Armii Krajowej.

Straceń dokonywano w lasach Turzy oddalonej o 3 km od Trzebuski.
